KEC International bags orders worth Rs.1,253 crore
January 4th, 2012 - 3:27 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Jan 4 (IANS) KEC International Wednesday said it has bagged orders worth Rs.1,253 crore in its power systems, water, telecom, transmission and cable business from India, Saudi Arabia, the US, Afghanistan, Kenya and the Philippines.
At the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the shares of the company were 8.22 percent up to trade at Rs.39.50.
“KEC International has secured new orders worth Rs.1,253 crore of this Rs.723 crore orders are in the transmission business, Rs.253 crore orders in power system, Rs.123 crore orders in the water business, Rs.105 crore orders in the cable business and Rs.49 crore in the telecom business,” the company said in a regulatory filing.
In the transmission business, the company has bagged orders from Saudi Arabia, the US and Afghanistan. The Saudi Arabia order is for construction of double circuit overhead transmission lines and underground cable works on a turn-key basis.
The contractual completion period of the project is 21 months.
In the power system business, the company has secured orders from Kenya, India and Philippines for substation works. The order secured from the Kenya Electricity Generating Company has a contractual completion period of 27 months.
The water business has fetched the company orders from Madhya Pradesh for the construction of canals from Madhya Pradesh Water Resources Department and from West Bengal for flood protection works from irrigation and waterways department.
In telecom, the company has received order from Power Grid for establishing 2,200 km of optical power ground wire communication network under hotline conditions in the eastern region in India.
