Karnataka to be partner state at India Economic Summit
September 14th, 2010 - 7:55 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, Sep 14 (IANS) Karnataka will be a partner state at the India Economic Summit to be held in New Delhi in November.
The state was invited to be partner state by the World Economic Forum Chairman Klaus Schwab during a meeting with Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa at Tianjin, China, an official statement said here Tuesday.
Yeddyurappa is now in Tianjin attending the World Economic Forum meeting.
“Schwab invited Karnataka to be the partner state and the Chief Minister readily agreed,” the statement said.
A large number of industry leaders and delegates from other countries also had discussion with Chief Minister on possible investments and collaborations, it said.
Yeddyurappa discussed with an Israreli delegation technology transfer on dry land agriculture with specific reference to micro-irrigation, visit of Karnataka farmers to Israel to study agriculture practices and training of police officers of Karnataka on home land security, the statement said.
The Chief Minister in his address to the WEF plenary session told the delegates that Karnataka offered immense opportunities for investment in food processing, aerospace, automobile, IT & BT, textile, infrastructure, power and tourism.
“Our State has many advantages which will enable you to get assured return on your investments. With more than 1500 technical institutions and over 100 R&D institutions, Karnataka is known for its highly skilled human resource and cutting-edge technology industries,” Yeddyurappa said.
“There are already more than 700 MNCs reaping the benefit in our State. It is a matter of pride that one new global company moves into Karnataka every week,” he said.
