Karnataka, Australian Victoria State plan collaboration in sectors
June 4th, 2010 - 8:17 pm ICT by IANSBangalore, June 4 (IANS) Karnataka and the Australian state of Victoria will explore opportunities for collaboration in aviation, construction, retail, marine engineering, tourism, food processing, banking and insurance, a minister said Friday.
Representatives of the two governments will soon hold meetings to identify the areas and other details for collaboration, Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri told reporters after signing an agreement with the Victoria state on cooperation in vocational education and skill building.
“Delegations from Karnataka and Victoria will develop and complete an action plan in the first 90 days of the three year agreement,” Victoria’s Minister for Education and Minister for Skills and Workforce-Participation Bronwyn Pike said.
This agreement will help the two governments “to build on the existing capability of the Karnataka vocational education and training workforce in areas such as leadership, management and training, deliver advanced training skills in areas such as sustainable construction and identify more partnering opportunities for our educational institutions”, she said.
Kageri said the agreement provides for partnership between training institutes and exchange of faculty and students.
