- New Delhi, Nov 16 (IANS) After organising road shows in Europe and North America, Road Transport Minister Kamal Nath will now organise similar events in the Middle East to attract investments in India’s highways sector.
“The minister is scheduled to visit West Asia to attract investors for mega road projects. He will organise road shows and meet investors,” said a ministry official here Monday.
“The previous road shows were very encouraging, so now he will target the Gulf countries. The programme is not finalised yet, but it will be a 10-day tour early next month,” the official said.
“The minister is expected to visit Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Iran,” he added.
At the World Economic Forum’s India Economic Summit here last week, Kamal Nath had said bids for mega projects would be invited in the next four to six weeks.
“The first mega highway project worth over $1 billion will be awarded within two months. We are looking at six such mega projects. These projects are being planned all over the country,” he had said.
