Johnson & Johnson announce recall for Fastmelt Tablets, Motrin Capsules & Rolaids softchews
November 24th, 2010 - 12:00 am ICT by Aishwarya BhattNew Brunswick, Nov 23 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Johnson & Johnson has announced a recall for Children’s Benadryl Allergy Fastmelt Tablets, Junior Strength Motrin Caplets, and Extra Strength Rolaids softchews. Despite announcing the recall the company clarified that the medicinal properties of the recalled products is intact and they still treat the ailments.
The company also said that the recall has been announced at the retail and the wholesale level and the consumers don’t need to do anything about the recall at all. The company officials also divulged that the real reason for announcing the recall was that they had reviewed the manufacturing processes after they had been bogged down by numerous product recalls in 2009.
The Rolaids softchews were being recalled because the consumers had complained about the unfamiliar texture of the medicine. Johnson & Johnson officials investigated the problem and found out that it arose because of the usage of crystallized sugar.
Around 4 million units of the Benadryl Fastmelt tablets, 800,000 Motrin caplets, and 71,000 caplets of Extra Strength Rolaids are part of the recall.
After Johnson & Johnson announced the recall the share value of the company stock took a battering and the shares recorded a reduction in value of 0.58 cents.
