Jharkhand withdraws tax on blankets
March 15th, 2011 - 12:00 am ICT by IANSRanchi, March 14 (IANS) The Jharkhand government Monday announced withdrawal of value added tax (VAT) on blankets, towels, bed-sheets and decided to keep foodgrain free from VAT in the next financial year.
“We have withdrawn 4 percent VAT imposed on blankets, towels and bed-sheets. We will keep the food grain free from VAT,” Deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren, in-charge of finance department, told reporters.
Soren announced the withdrawal of VAT during the debate on budget of 2011-12. Four percent VAT was imposed on blankets, bed-sheets and towels in December last year.
