Jharkhand PSUs try to evict squatters - politicians, bureaucrats
July 8th, 2011 - 12:52 am ICT by IANSRanchi, July 7 (IANS) Two public sector units (PSU) have issued eviction notices to illegal occupants, including Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister Hemant Soren and bureaucrats, of their residential properties, officials said Thursday.
Central Coalfield Limited (CCL), Ranchi, came out with an advertisement in newspapers with a list of people illegally occupying its houses and bungalows. The names included Leader of Opposition Rajendra Singh of the Congress, Industries Director Manish Ranjan and others.
Bokaro Steel Limited (BSL) has issued notices to 14 people, including Deputy Chief Minister Soren, legislators Uma Kant Rajak, Chandrashekhar Dubey, Samresh Singh and others.
The eviction notices were served on the direction of the Jharkhand High Court.
The court sought a report from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) regarding illegal occupants of the PSUs’ houses. The report given last month said that 744 houses of different PSUs were occupied illegally.
BSL has asked the illegal occupants to vacate its houses by July 8 and CCL notice gave them time till July 10.
