Jet Airways flight to Bahrain delayed over bomb scare
September 4th, 2011 - 11:50 pm ICT by IANSMumbai, Sep 4 (IANS) A Jet Airways international flight from Mumbai to Bahrain was Sunday delayed by two hours after the airline’s staff received an anonymous call claiming a bomb was on board. It turned out to be a hoax.
The flight 9W 592 from Mumbai to Bahrain took off at 9.30 p.m. - two hours after its original departure time of 7.30 p.m.
After the bomb scare, security agencies including the Central Industrial Security Force and Mumbai Airports Authority were alerted and the Kochi-Mumbai-Bahrain flight was thoroughly checked.
“The flight was rescheduled following a non-specific bomb threat call received at our call centre. Security forces checked and the Boeing 737 flight with 154 passengers and crew members ahead of its departure at 9.30 p.m.,” an airline official said.
