Jayalalithaa comes down on rationing of cooking gas

- Chennai, Nov 9 (IANS) AIADMK general secretary J. Jayalalithaa Monday came down heavily on the unstated rationing of cooking gas cylinders in the state and the DMK government’s move to reduce kerosene entitlement.
“A direct cooking gas consumer can book for a refill only after 21 days of supply of the earlier cylinder. It takes another 10 days for him to get a refill. In other words, a household is supplied one cylinder a month,” said Jayalalithaa in a statement issued here.
According to her, it was a double whammy for those who got free gas connections as they now get refills once in 60 days even as their entitlement to kerosene was reduced by seven litres to three litres a month.
Accusing the DMK government of announcing freebies on election-eve and forgetting about these once the polls were over, Jayalalithaa asked it to restore kerosene supplies to the original level of 10 litres per ration card.
