Jasola-Apollo Metro Station foot overbridge now open
October 31st, 2010 - 4:22 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Oct 31 (IANS) A pedestrian overbridge connecting the Jasola-Apollo Metro station and the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital in south Delhi was opened to public Sunday.
“This will help both the residents of Jasola and the patients coming to Indraprastha Apollo Hospital to cross the crowded road,” the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) said Sunday.
The 60-metre long and four-metre wide overbridge, constructed by the DMRC, will have a lift and an escalator in the next two months, the Metro statement added.
“Orders have been placed for the procurement of the lift and the escalator. It took two months to construct this pedestrian bridge, installation of both the facilities will take two more months,” stated the release.
The DMRC is planning to provide two more overbridges at Sarita Vihar and Mohan Estate Metro Stations by the first quarter of 2011, a spokesperson said.
The Jasola-Apollo Metro Station falls on the recently opened 15-km long Central Secretariat-Sarita Vihar corridor. The Delhi Metro has a total operational network of about 156 km now with 132 stations.
