Jammu and Kashmir to promote adventure tourism
May 28th, 2011 - 6:47 pm ICT by IANSJammu, May 28 ( IANS) In a bid to promote adventure tourism in Jammu and Kashmir, the state tourism department is organising a motor rally along the historic Mughal Road which traverses high mountain passes to connect Jammu region with the Kashmir Valley.The three-day (June 25-28) rally, which will be organised in collaboration with the Himalayan Motor Association, will cover various parts of the state, including Srinagar.
“Our idea is to showcase the beauty of the untouched areas and also to promote adventure tourism,” Tourism Minister Nawang Rigzin Jora told IANS Saturday.
The tourism department is also focusing on many other areas to bring in more adventure tourists to the state, he said.
“Most of the peaks in Kargil and Zanskar are known to the adventure tourists. We are now adding more areas to attract trekkers,” the minister added.
