ITC fourth quarter net profit up 24.6 percent

Mumbai, May 20 (IANS) FMCG major ITC Friday reported a 24.63 percent rise in net profit to Rs.1,281.48 crore, helped by a continued good show of the company’s cigarettes business.

During the quarter under review, the company’s cigarettes business saw revenues grow 13.15 percent to Rs.5,111.13 crore.

Net sales for the hotels-to-paper conglomerate rose 15.48 percent to Rs.5,836.26 crore for the quarter ended March 31, compared to previous corresponding quarter.

The hotel business’ net revenues went up by over 17 percent to Rs.300 crore, while those from the agribusiness increased to Rs.1,081.83 crore from Rs.988.09 crore logged in the previous corresponding quarter.

For the entire fiscal 2010-11, net profit of the company rose 22.81 percent to Rs.4,987.61 crore, while net sales increased 16.6 percent to Rs.21,167.58 crore.

However, the company’s scrip at the Bombay Stock Exchange Friday ended 1.82 percent lower at Rs.185.80.
