June 3rd, 2010 - 9:53 pm ICT by IANSGurgaon, June 3 (IANS) Chicago-based IT consultancy ThoughtWorks that provides systems development and transformation services and products to Global 1000 companies has extended its footprint to north India with an office in this tech hub on the outskirts of the national capital, its fourth facility in the country.
“We have seen increasing demand in the local market, especially in our consulting business, over the last few years. Moving up north is a strategic move for us to increase our ability to serve customers located in the NCR (national capital region),” Mahesh Baxi, managing director of ThoughtWorks India, said in a statement.
“As a thought-leader in the Agile space, and an advocate of new and emerging technologies, ThoughtWorks provides an ideal ecosystem for the tech community to interact, share ideas and thrive,” he added.
“The company’s pioneering approach, which includes industry-acclaimed Agile and Lean best practices, helps CIOs maximize investment performance across a portfolio of complex, business critical applications, while reducing time and risk,” the statement said.
According to Baxi, the company’s Bangalore, Pune and Chennai offices “have contributed enormously to our global success, and we are looking forward to our new Gurgaon operations to extend this advantage”.
“We believe that the software industry is undergoing a profound shift towards quality and effectiveness. This revolution requires a focus on talented people working in new cooperative ways,” he added.
Founded in 1993, the company opened its first Indian office in Bangalore in 2001. Today, ThoughtWorks’ 1300-plus professionals serve clients from offices in Australia, Brazil, Britain, Canada, China, India and the United States.
In India, the company has close to 600 employees and hopes to scale up the Gurgaon operations to 150 people in the next 18 months.
