Israel wants to double trade with IndiaApril 9th, 2008 - 9:31 pm ICT by admin
Bhopal, April 9 (IANS) Israel excepts trade with India, currently at $3.3 billion a year, to double in the next three years, an Israeli embassy official said Wednesday. “There is a lot of interest on both sides and there exists strong private sector cooperation between the two countries,” Lior Weintraub, the spokesperson of the Israeli embassy, told reporters here.
He said the purchase of an Israeli pharmaceutical company Taro by the Indian group Sun could be seen as the biggest example of the growing economic cooperation.
“Besides, more than 100 Israeli companies are coming to India,” he added.
Lior said India and Israel could learn from each other in the fields of agriculture, water management and drip irrigation. “Nearly 50,000 Israeli tourists visit India every year,” he added.
