ISB not in race to open overseas campuses
August 11th, 2010 - 7:09 pm ICT by IANSMohali (Punjab), Aug 11 (IANS) The Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad, is not in the race to open a campus overseas, its dean said here Wednesday.
“Yes, there are many management institutes that are opening campuses in Dubai or Singapore, but all these moves are motivated to earn more revenues. They get more fees from international students but we are not into this. We have no plans to open a campus or a branch outside India,” Ajit Rangnekar told IANS.
He said the school had observed very good response from foreign students. “But we want them to come to India in pursuit of quality business education.”
Rangnekar was here to attend the foundation stone laying ceremony of the ISB’s second campus in the Knowledge City. This would be the second campus outside Hyderabad and would begin its first academic session in April 2012.
Rangnekar said there would be no difference between Hyderabad and Mohali campuses. “Curriculum will be same and moreover there would be one joint placement for the students of both campuses. We are aiming for an overall development of this whole region with ISB.”
He, however, admitted that it would be a difficult task while placing students in Mohali and Hyderabad campus.
“Selection process will be the same but it would be in fact very challenging for us to place students in Hyderabad or Mohali campus. We would ask students to submit their preferences but the final decision would be taken by the ISB selection committee,” said Rangnekar.
Talking about scholarships, Rangnekar said: “ISB emphasises a lot on scholarships and loans for its students. Presently one-third of our students have got scholarships, which are both merit and need-based. We have plans to increase the ambit of scholarships in the coming years.”
