Iran unveils Dena luxury car
April 17th, 2011 - 8:00 pm ICT by IANSTehran, April 17 (IANS) Iran’s leading automaker - Iran Khodro Company (IKCO) - has come out with a luxury car, Dena, that will soon hit the markets.
Dena has been designed and manufactured by Iranian experts and complies with Euro IV and Euro V emission standards, Xinhua quoted Iranian Minister of Industries and Mines Ali-Akbar Mehrabian telling Press TV about the new car.
Dena will comes in LX and ELX models. While the LX version is powered by an EF7 petrol engine and a CNG engine, the ELX version is powered by a turbo-charged EF7 engine.
A manual gearbox is fitted in the car, but an electronically-controlled automatic transmission system could be a future option, the report stated.
On Iran’s participation in car markets, IKCO Chief Executive Officer Javad Najmeddin said: “We already have markets in 30 counties. Last year, we exported 40,000 automobiles, and now with Dena we are targeting luxury car markets.”
“IKCO plans to increase its production to 730,000 vehicles a year by the end of 2011, and raise the volume of exports to over 600,000 cars by 2016,” said Najmeddin.
The company aims to target markets in Russia, Syria, Turkey, Iraq, Ukraine and Egypt with the Dena.
