DES MOINES, IOWA (BNO NEWS) – Iowa Governor Chet Culver on Thursday announced that advanced manufacturing and technology companies are planning expansions and will result in a large amount of jobs created.

Planned expansions will create 135 jobs and retain an additional 24, with total capital investment of nearly $40 million in the Iowa economy. The four were approved for economic stimulus programs by the Economic Development Board and the Iowa Department of Economic Development for Ames, Carroll, Council Bluffs, and Des Moines.

“As we move into a new year, we will continue to work tirelessly to take advantage of every opportunity to build a stronger economy in Iowa,” said Governor Culver. “We have some very innovative people growing new businesses. When that is combined with the skilled workers and excellent business climate in Iowa, we have everything we need to build a more vibrant economy to move Iowa forward.”

New manufacturing and technology industries include the health industry, sanitation systems, and software development.
