Interior Minister challenges NCCC members to resign
July 14th, 2008 - 11:49 am ICT by Amrit Rashmisrisethi
The Interior Minister, Pol. Capt. Chalerm Yubamrung, challenges committee members of the National Counter Corruption Commission (NCCC) to resign, if they believe they are good enough to be appointed again.
Pol. Capt. Chalerm says he is not trying to denounce the NCCC committee members, but the 2007 Constitution states that their members have to be appointed by His Majesty the King. He says they could not claim that their level is equivalent to a director-general. According to Pol. Capt. Chalerm, it would be best if the nine NCCC committee members resign in order to allow the Senate to appoint them again.
The Interior Minister says the same case may also apply to the members of the Election Commission (EC).
