Infosys, Oracle join to support US power utility service
March 2nd, 2011 - 7:14 pm ICT by IANSNew York, March 2 (IANS) India’s IT major Infosys Technologies is helping Seattle City Light, the 10th largest public electric utility in the US, to improve customer service by real-time sharing of information.
Seattle City Light can now in real time inform customers of the causes of outages and give estimated time for service restoration, a statement said Wednesday.
To achieve this the Bangalore-based Infosys, India’s second largest software exporter, implemented “utilities network management system” developed by the US-based Oracle, at Seattle City Light, the statement by Infosys and Oracle said.
The system will help Seattle City Light in “improving operational efficiency and flexibility, increasing customer service, reducing duration of outages and integrating data from existing information systems,” it added.
Seattle City Light is the 10th largest public electric utility in the US and has some of the lowest-cost customer rates of any urban utility, according to the statement. It serves nearly one million residents in Seattle.
