Infosys accounts for 18 percent of Kerala’s IT exports
February 17th, 2011 - 10:48 pm ICT by IANSThiruvananthapuram, Feb 17 (IANS) Infosys’ operations in the Technopark campus here accounted for exports worth Rs.427.79 crore, contributing to 18 percent of the state’s IT exports for the fiscal year ended 2010, the IT major said in a statement.The statement was issued soon after Kerala Chief Minister V.S. Achuthanandan inaugurated the IT giant’s new block at their Special Economic Zone (SEZ) campus that was built at the cost of Rs.180 crore.
Infosys’ second campus at Technopark Campus II is spread over 50 acres of land and will be developed over a period of five years in a phased manner.
The new block that was opened has the capacity to seat 1,600 employees and has seen an investment of Rs.180 crore till date.
This includes a food court, recreational facilities for employees, chiller building, diesel generation block, water storage and treatment facility, sewage treatment plant and roads.
The second block of 1,800 seats is also currently under construction at this campus.
“We are very encouraged by this development and the support provided to Infosys. Kerala has a large pool of highly qualified professionals and the availability of quality manpower has been an impetus for us to expand operations in the state,” said Infosys chief Kris Gopalakrishnan.
Infosys started its operations from the Technopark campus in January 2004 and has over 1500 employees.
