Industrialist Jayshree Venkatraman dies
April 5th, 2011 - 11:18 pm ICT by IANSChennai, April 5 (IANS) Industrialist Jayshree Venkatraman, chairman of Amco Batteries Ltd, died here Tuesday after a brief illness, company officials said.
Company officials told IANS that Venkatraman, 49, was ill for a few days.
Venkatraman’s father and the Rs.7,000 crore Amalgamations Group chairman A.Sivasailam died earlier this year.
Venkatraman was elected chairman of Amco Batteries after her father’s demise.
She took over as CEO of Amco Batteries in 2005 and was inducted as a board member in 2006.
An MBA from International Institute of Management, New Delhi, Venkatraman was also actively involved in the activities of Madras Chambers of Commerce and Industry (MCCI) and the Madras Management Association.
She was also on the boards of Tractors and Farm Equipment Ltd (Tafe) Tafe Access Ltd and Stella Maris College here.
Vankatraman is survived by her husband Murali Venkatraman, vice chairman and managing director, WS Industries and son V.Sriram, 12.
Her sister, Mallika Srinivasan heads the tractor major Tafe.
