Indra Nooyi Wins ‘2009 CEO Of The Year’ And Gets Enlisted On Forbes

Indra NooyiIndian- born Indra Nooyi, Chairman of Pepsi Co Inc. has added another achievement to her credit. The Chief Executive officer of Pepsi Co Inc. has been singled out to fame as the 2009 CEO of the Year.

The Global Supply Chain Leaders Group (GSCLG) has chosen Nooyi for her extraordinary efforts in enhancing business practices. Her social responsibility seems unmatched to any other business personality. Nooyi’s interest and contributions in sorting the serious problem of climate change is also being complimented world-wide.

German Chancellor Angella Merkel was No. 1 on Forbes’ annual list of World’s most powerful women for the fourth consecutive year recently. At No.2 was Sheila Blair, the Chairman of Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation listed for her excellence in handling the financial crisis in the U.S. Indra Nooyi of Pepsi Co. Inc and Cynthia Caroll of Anglo-American PLC were on No.3 and 4 respectively; followed by Singapore’s 1st lady Ho Ching, Chief Executive of Singapore’s Temasek Holdings ( a sovereign wealth fund) on No. 5 .

About the 2009 CEO title Nooyi said, “I am honored that Pepsi Co has received this recognition from the GSCLG.” She also added, “This award is a testament to the dedication of our 198,000 associates around the world who work tirelessly to grow our business and act as ethical and responsible citizens of the world.”

The award recognizes personalities who show their forte on the platform of Corporate Citizenship. Nooyi is known to have influenced her company tremendously in its progress making the best out of the most challenging situations. She has made heads turn with her strategy called “Performance With Purpose” and had shown true entrepreneurial skills by envisioning some of the most nutritious beverages.
