India’s inflation rate falls to 0.48 percent
June 4th, 2009 - 1:54 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, June 4 (IANS) India’s annual rate of inflation fell to 0.48 percent for the week ended May 23 from 0.61 percent in the previous week, official data showed Thursday.
The wholesale price index for all commodities rose 0.04 percent though the indices for various manufacturing products declined, as per data released by the commerce and industry ministry.
While the index for primary articles rose 0.2 percent, that for fuel and power and manufactured products remained unchanged.
However, the majority of indices for manufactured products groups such as leather and leather products, rubber, plastic products, metal, alloys, machinery and transport equipment declined.
The final data for the week ended March 28 showed that the annual inflation rate actually stood at 0.84 percent against 0.26 percent reported earlier based on provisional figures.
