Indian Bank’s rural banks brought under core banking
January 30th, 2010 - 10:58 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Jan 30 (IANS) Complying with the central government’s stipulation of bringing all the regional rural banks (RRBs) under the core banking solution net (CBS), city based Indian Bank announced Saturday that three such banks sponsored by it have been brought under the CBS.
According to Indian Bank, the three RRBs - Puduvai Bharathiar Grama Bank in Puducherry, Pallavan Grama Bank, Salem (Tamil Nadu) and Saptagiri Grameena Bank, Chittoor (Andhra Pradesh) - are CBS compliant more than a year ahead of the stipulated time.
The three banks offer Anywhere Banking facilities for their customers and soon automated teller machine (ATM) cards will be issued.
The Saptagiri Grameena Bank operates in Krishna and Chittoor Districts with 127 branches and does a total business of Rs.2,488 crore (deposits and advances) while Pallavan Grama Bank, with 83 branches, does a business of Rs.1,096 crore.
The Puducherry-based Puduvai Bharathiar Grama Bank has 15 branches in the union territory and does a total business of Rs.59 crore.
