India offers `win-win’ opportunity, says US chamber
February 16th, 2011 - 3:46 pm ICT by IANSWashington, Feb 16 (IANS) The US India Business Council (USIBC) has launched an India awareness campaign among lawmakers, the business community and the general public to drive home the message that India offers a “win-win” opportunity for both nations.”While the US economy continues to strengthen, our message to Congress and the American people is simple: India is open for business, and the opportunities on the table represent a “win-win” opportunity that benefits both economies,” USIBC president Ron Somers said.
Called “Introduction to India”, the public education initiative aims to reach out to Members of Congress, the business community, and the wider public about USIBC’s mandate and efforts to strengthen the US-India commercial relationship, USIBC said.
“Our two-way trade is close to $50 billion annually and is growing at an unprecedented rate,” noted Somers.
“We are excited about this new initiative to help the US Congress, the American business community, as well as the public appreciate and realise the opportunities India presents, which translates into more jobs here at home,” he said.
The strategic partnership between the US and India rests on the successful growth of commercial ties between the world’s two largest free-market democracies, says a fact-sheet issued by USIBC on the occasion.
