ILS partners with FABA for BioAsia awards
November 29th, 2011 - 7:43 pm ICT by IANSHyderabad, Nov 29 (IANS) The Institute of Life Sciences (ILS) has partnered with the Federation of Asian Biotech Associations (FABA) to scrutinize and recognize innovations through the BioAsia innovation award and BioAsia young minds award 2012.
While the BioAsia innovation award comprises prize money of Rs.100,000, the BioAsia young minds award carries prize money of Rs.50,000. The proposals are to be submitted on or before Jan 6, 2012.
Both these awards will be presented at the closing ceremony of BioAsia 2012 scheduled to be held on Feb 11, 2012.
The innovation award was instituted in 2004 for the young scientist less than 35 years of age. BioAsia young minds award was instituted in 2009.
“Ten best of the proposals for the innovation awards and five best proposals for the young minds award will be invited to demonstrate their innovations at the conference venue,” said T. Appa Rao chairman, Organising Committee of BioAsia 2012 and Andhra Pradesh’s principal secretary, industries and commerce.
“Through this partnership, ILS intends to identify talents and mentor them for a successful entry into the business world. As for the young minds award participants, ILS would set-up a counselling cell to guide them appropriately to get the right kind of education to carry forward the intellectual spark in them,” said Javed Iqbal, director, ILS.
ILS was founded by the central and state government and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories for research and development activities for tuberculosis, diabetes and cancer biology.
