Hyundai workers gear up for fight
September 17th, 2010 - 8:59 pm ICT by IANSChennai, Sep 17 (IANS) The Hyundai Motor India Employees Union has warned of ‘direct action’ if the Tamil Nadu government does not give its decision on reinstating 32 dismissed workers by Monday.
The union is protesting against Hyundai’s decision to administer swine flu vaccine to its workers by deducting Rs.150 towards the drug’s cost.
“The government has to give its final decision, failing which we will resort to direct action which means anything including a strike,” Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) general secretary A. Soundararajan said.
The decision on reinstating the dismissed workers was deferred for the third time Sep 14 by the state government.
