Hyundai Motor’s November sales up 28.1 percent
December 1st, 2011 - 7:57 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Dec 1 (IANS) Automobile major Hyundai Motor’s November sales, including exports, increased by 28.1 percent at 57,080 units from 44,540 units sold in the like period of last year.
The company said sales were boosted by the company’s sedan Verna and hatchback Eon offerings, which were launched recently.
“In a challenging market we have been able to grow volumes and market share on the strength of our new launches - Verna and Eon,” Arvind Saxena, director, marketing and sales, Hyundai Motor India said in a statement.
The company’s domestic sales increased by 10.9 percent in the month under review and stood at 35,000 units from 31,540 units sold in November last year.
Meanwhile, the company’s exports jumped by 69.8 percent in the last month at 22,080 units against 13,000 units in the corresponding period of 2010.
However, the company said its market outlook is sluggish due to high interest and fuel cost.
“Our immediate outlook on the market is not too bright as interest rates and fuel prices are unlikely to soften in the foreseeable future,” Saxena said.
Segment-wise sales were led by hatchback cars including Eon, Santro, i10 and i20 which sold 48,732 units, followed by A3 sedan segment including Accent and Verna at 8,223 units, A5 luxury-sedan segment only sold three units and sports utility vehicle Santa Fe 122 units.
