Hyundai India looking overseas for talent
November 5th, 2009 - 3:05 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Chennai, Nov 5 (IANS) The country’s second largest car manufacturer, Hyundai Motor India, is looking overseas for talent at the levels of general managers and group heads for its product design and marketing divisions, a senior official has said.
“We need people with different skill sets and with diverse experience. We are looking for suitable people of any nationality who meet our requirements,” Arvind Saxena, senior vice-president (sales and marketing), told IANS from Delhi on phone.
The company, which exports cars to around 140 countries from its plant near here, is hunting for international talent, he added.
“We need people with different skill sets for product management and development. On the marketing side, the person whom we are looking for should be able to do business analyses and come out with suggestions for new product lines or changes in an existing line-up.”
At present, Hyundai India employs mainly Indians and Koreans.
Saxena said the company has advertised in the international automotive magazine, Automotive News, that it was looking for experts.
Asked why Hyundai hunts for talent abroad, he said: “The cars sold in India are not truly designed here. They have large elements of overseas design. We would like to have those people on board who have designed and sold those products.”
Such people, he said, “understand the products and the market needs well”.
Asked whether the company would transfer people from other locations to India to meet local requirements, Saxena said: “That was not in our minds when the advertisement was issued.”
But there is no embargo on movement of talent within the group, he said, adding: “If there are people who are interested to come to India suiting our needs we are open.”
