HP Appoints Leo Apotheker As The New CEO

leoOct 1, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After two months of extensive search, the Hewlett-Packard Company has finally found the replacement of Mark Hurd and appointed Leo Apotheker as the new CEO of the company. On August 6, 2010, Mark Hurd was forced to resign from his post after the HP investigating officials found out that he filed inaccurate expense reports. Last Thursday HP finally made an official announcement where the HP officials said that Leo Apotheker is selected to serve the post of Chief Executive Officer of HP.

Leo Apotheker is the third CEO of HP in a decade. The newly appointed CEO seemed optimistic while discussing his plans and motives. The former CEO of SAP AG said that he will focus on both efficiency and growth to make HP stand above the rest. The new CEO of HP said that one can never be done with efficiency and hence while he is in the company, he will “continue to drive” efficiency in everything he will be doing. Tim Weber, business editor of the BBC News website said that Leo Apotheker can encourage and increase the offering of HP’s computer and software services.

The newly appointed CEO of HP, Leo Apotheker also stressed and emphasized on the talented management team of the company. Robert Ryan, lead independent director of HP’s board announced on Thursday that Leo Apotheker is a “strategic thinker” and he has a passion for the technology and along with his experience and discipline he will be able to serve the company well. The former Oracle executive Ray lane is also appointed as the non-executive chairman of HP. Leo Apotheker said that he is honored to join 300,000 “dedicated employees” of HP.
