House Committee on Energy and Commerce requests information from auto insurers about Toyota complaints
February 10th, 2010 - 3:24 pm ICT by BNO News ( Leave a comment )WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) – The United States House Committee on Energy and Commerce on Tuesday requested information from auto insurers about Toyota complaints, a spokesperson said.
Chairman Waxman sent letters to five automobile insurance companies requesting information regarding persistent consumer complaints of sudden, unintended acceleration in vehicles manufactured by Toyota Motor Corporation.
Additionally, information was requested regarding warnings the insurance companies may have provided to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about defect trends in Toyota vehicles.
The Committee on Energy and Commerce is one of the oldest standing committees of the United States House of Representatives, and serves as the principle guide for the House in matters relating to the promotion of commerce and to the public’s health and marketplace interests.
