HondaFeb 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Things are far from hunky-dory with the giant Japanese Automakers Toyota and Honda motors. Honda, which is one of the leading automakers of the world, is reeling under a global recall, a similar factor affecting its rival Toyota Motor corporation in recent times. In a latest move, Honda has decided to recall close to 450,000 cars owing to a faulty air bag issue. Earlier, the company recalled a range of cars for window switch problems. The cars to be recalled owing to the air bag problem will affect the owners in Canada, Japan, USA, Asia and Australia as the sources have revealed. The models to be affected by this massive recall include Acura TL Sedan, CR-V SUV, Civic, Accord and Odyssey.

Some auto industry analysts have tried to hint at a co-relation between the recall of Toyota and that of Honda but it has been refuted by Honda itself. The Honda top officials have denied that the Toyota global recall has got anything to do with Honda’s decision to recall its cars. The Honda website says that the recall is owing to increased concern for the safety of the passengers. The Honda owners have been asked to approach Honda dealers and they will start getting notifications from this month on itself.

The recall may pose a drawback in the plan of the Japanese automaker to make invasion into emerging markets. It can also give rivals like Ford and GM an edge to increase sales and woo away a section of the customers who are presently fretting over the issue of the recall.
