Honda Siel expects double digit growth this fiscal
August 28th, 2009 - 12:58 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Aug 28 (IANS) Honda Siel cars Friday said it expects a double-digit growth this fiscal despite a sharp drop in sales of some of their models.
“The market sentiment is better and the availability of finance, coupled with the upcoming festive season, should boost up sales,” said Jnaneswar Sen, vice president (marketing) of Honda Siel Cars India Ltd.
Honda Siel’s sports utility vehicle (SUV) CRV, which sold about 250-300 units per month before the slowdown hit the Indian economy, sold about 30 cars last month.
“The CRV had almost stopped selling. But the sales revived and about 30 cars were sold last month,” Sen said.
“However, the Honda City is doing doing really well and the company is selling about 3,000 vehicles per month,” he added.
The official said that the company also expects incremental sales of the newly launched car Jazz.
Honda Siel is also planning to increase its capacity by 50 percent from single shifts a day to two shifts, Sen added.
