vbk_honda_67298f Mar 17 (THAINDIAN NEWS) In another sad story for the automobile industry, Honda is recalling over 412,000 vehicles because of an issue with the brakes. Odyssey minivans and Element Crossovers have a problem with the vehicle-stability-assist modulator. While this may sound like some imaginary item made up by Marvin the Martian, the alien who was so popular on the Bug’s Bunny cartoons, what it actually means is that the braking system problems could make it harder to stop the vehicle.

Honda stated that over time the brakes pedals can feel “soft” and have to be pushed harder, and closer to the floor to stop the automobile. According to a spokesman for Honda, Chris Martin, if these cars are not repaired, loss of control and accidents could occur. “It’s definitely not operating the way it should, and it’s safety systems, so it brings it to the recall status,” he said.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has said that there have been three crashes reported because of these issues, with minor injuries, but no death. They were notified of the recall on Monday. It was said to be a voluntary recall by Honda.

The automobiles included in this recall are the 2007 and 2008 Honda Odyssey Minivans, and Element Crossovers. Owners are urged to take their vehicles to a dealer as soon as they get notification.
