honda-dealerCanada, Aug 10, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The year 2010 should go down in the history of auto industry as the year of recall. The recall saga started with Toyota and was followed by another Japanese giant Honda. Honda has once again decided to recall more than 350000 models of its models like Accord, Civic as well as Element in the USA. The recall is being issued owing to problems linked with ignition mechanism.

The Japanese automaker said in its statement that in case the ignition mechanism gets damaged and worn out removing the ignition key becomes easier. If this happens the car may roll away unexpectedly and cause accident. The company also said that it has got numerous complaints and a handful of accidents have taken place as well. It does not want to take anymore risk. The models that are being recalled are quite old and they were mostly manufactured in 2003 and 2004. The NHTSA or National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said that it got more than a dozen ignition interlock mechanism failure related complaints from the Honda owners.

Apart from USA, Honda is also recalling around 44000 models in Canada for the same problem. However no accident has taken place in Canada so far owing to the car defect. The company is going to notify the owners shortly. The incident has created sensation in the auto industry. It comes at a time when everyone hoped that the recall fiasco had ended for good.
