Honda India to replace parts on City sedans
September 5th, 2011 - 7:23 pm ICT by IANSNew Delhi, Sep 5 (IANS) Japaness automobile major Honda’s Indian subsidiary Monday said it will carry out preventive part-replacement of the power window switch in 72,115 units of the second-generation of its City sedan.
“Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) is carrying out the part replacement as part of a global exercise by Honda Motor Company to ensure stringent quality standards for its products,” the company said in a statement.
The part replacement would be conducted on sedans manufactured between 2005 to 2007 and would be free of cost.
“The replacement would be carried out free of cost and the owners will be contacted to carry out the exercise smoothly,” the statement said.
Earlier, the company had started the part-replacement exercise in January 2010 for 8,532 units of second-generation City cars which were manufactured in 2007.
“Although no incident has been reported in India, HSCI is extending the same exercise to the previously sold Honda City, manufactured between 2005 and 2007,” the statement added.
The company further said that the third-generation City cars which are currently sold in India are not affected, while the global car recall does not impact the hatchback Jazz and sports utility vehicles (SUV) CR-V sold in India.
