Honda eyes 15 percent sales growth
October 11th, 2011 - 5:27 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, Oct 11 (IANS) Japanese car maker Honda’s Indian subsidiary Tuesday said it is eyeing 10-15 percent sales growth in terms of volume this fiscal.
“We had sold 60,000 units in India last fiscal. We are expecting a sales growth of 10 to 15 percent in this fiscal in the country,” Honda Siel Cars India Ltd’s director (sales and marketing) Seki Inaba told reporters after launching the company’s new small car Brio.
Inaba, however, said sales were down by 18 percent in September this year compared to the like period last year.
“We think Brio will generate incremental effect in our sales volume this fiscal,” he added.
He said that normal delivery of critical parts, including engine management system, had been hampered due to the earthquake and tsunami in Japan, but added that the situation was expected to be normalised in December this year.
Brio is manufactured at the company’s plant in Greater Noida with a localisation level of over 80 percent.
“Currently, the capacity of the plant is one lakh (units),” Inaba said.
