‘Homes for all’ tops agenda of housing convention

New Delhi, Dec 15 (IANS) Making housing available to all, especially the poor, will be the focus of the 10th national convention of real estate developers starting here Thursday.”We are facing huge shortage of affordable housing. Over 25 million units are required to meet the existing housing needs,” Pradeep Jain, president of the Confederation of Real Estate Developers’ Associations of India (CREDAI), said at a press conference here Wednesday.
Over 600 developers, bankers and government officials are likely to participate in the two-day national convention organised by CREDAI.
The objective of the convention is to deliberate on how the private developers along with the government can deliver “homes for all”, said Jain.
Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Urban Development Minister S. Jaipal Reddy, Minister for Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja and Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, among others, are likely to address the Dec 16-17 convention.
