Hindusthan National Gas, OMCO International form JV
April 29th, 2010 - 9:32 pm ICT by IANSKolkata, April 29 (IANS) Glass container major Hindusthan National Glass and Industries (HNG) has formed a joint venture with Belgium-based OMCO International NV to set up and operate mould manufacturing facilities in India.
“The total investment would be around Rs.35 crore and the plant would come up at Puducherry by September with a capacity of 4,000 moulds a month,” Mukul Somany, HNG joint managing director, told reporters here.
The 50:50 JV, OMCO HNG Engineering Ltd, will be engaged in designing, manufacturing, marketing and sales of moulds for glass packaging products like beverages, liquor, food, pharmaceutical and cosmetic use.
“The plant is basically a backward integration for us with the moulds meeting out own requirement though we would be looking at exports at a later stage,” Somany said.
HNG has 60 percent market share in the glass packaging industry.
HNG currently has manufacturing plants in West Bengal, Haryana, Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan and Puducherry, whose aggregate capacities are being raised to one million tonnes a year by the end of fiscal 2010-11.
