Himachal wants private partner for biotech park

Shimla, March 8 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh is looking for a partner to develop a multi-billion biotechnology park under public-private-partnership (PPP) mode, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said Tuesday.

“We are looking for a private partner and the selection process is on,” Dhumal, who also holds the science and technology portfolio, said in a written reply in the state assembly.

The state cabinet has granted permission for the development of a Rs.200 crore biotechnology park with central government assistance.

It will be set up at Aduwal village near Nalagarh in Solan district. It will have a biotechnology incubation centre and a biotechnology industrial cluster.

Britain-based multinational Matt MacDonald Private Limited, which was engaged by the state to prepare the feasibility report for the biotechnology park, has submitted its report.
