Himachal Pradesh government school has a play way mode of teaching

Sirmour (Himachal Pradesh), June 1 (ANI): A government-run school in Himachal Pradesh Sirmour district is experimenting with the illustrated way of teaching.
The students, most of them from rural areas, are taught in a play way method at this Government Middle School at Kandaiwala. All classrooms of the school have audio-visual teaching aids ranging from colours in the space, biosphere, atmosphere and charts for measuring height and weight, lab instruments, mathematical formulae and many more.
One can notice a wide range of colors depicting different things.
The method was adapted to enable students to understand the formulas related to mathematics, science, and develop interest in various other subjects in a different style.
The pattern has been made possible under the Centre governments Sarva Siksha Abhiyan (Education for All) as part of Bala Features, for which an amount of Rs 25,000 was given as grant to this school.
Students have liked the new method of teaching and developed interest in learning things all together in a different way.
“Earlier, we used to study with our books as nothing of this sort was inscribed here. So we did not have much interest in studying. But ever since these pictures have been pasted here, our interest has grown in our studies. We feel like reading for more and more always,” said Khushboo, a standard eight student.
The methodology to teach has been introduced to bring a change in students approach to learn things.
Most of the parents in the area generally prefer sending their wards to private schools for a better education. But with it novel approach to teach students, this school has drawn everyones attention by showcasing the quality of education possible at a government run school.
“We had the motive of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan (education for all) in our programme and we received a grant of rupees 25,000. We were asked to introduce such permanent features in our school so that as long as students remain here, they should learn more and even more from the roof, floor, doors and windows. And, we executed the ideas,” said Pradeep Kumar, a Science teacher at the school in Kandaiwala.
Schoolteachers are delighted after noticing a positive change among their students and their increased interest.
“The questions that emerge in students mind were our main motive. We wanted the students should be aware about the things related to their curriculum and should ask us and now and when are doing it. We feel very happy about it. We are getting the results that we wanted,” Pradeep added. (ANI)
