Himachal packaging units to go on strike
March 1st, 2010 - 3:24 pm ICT by IANSShimla, March 1 (IANS) More than 200 packaging units based in Himachal Pradesh will go on strike for a week to protest the rise in prices of raw material used for making corrugated boxes, industry leaders said Monday.
“We have decided to go on strike from March 8 against the frequent rise in prices of raw material,” Corrugated Manufacturers Association of Himachal president Surender Jain told IANS.
“The cost of the raw paper has increased by 20 percent in the past two months while the price of stitching wires multiplied in just a few months. This has badly hit our business,” he said.
The industrial Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalagarh belt in Solan district has more than 200 packaging units that make corrugated boxes for industrial units in the region.
