Himachal growth rate projected to dip to 7.6 percent

Shimla, March 16 (IANS) Himachal Pradesh’s growth rate for this fiscal is projected at 7.6 percent, a fall of 1.2 percent from 2010-11, the state’s economic survey said Friday.

“Growth is estimated to be lower at 7.6 percent this year over the 2010-11 level of 8.8 percent,” said the report, which was tabled in the assembly by Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.

The report said the per capita income is estimated at Rs.73,608 for 2011-12. The per capita income in 2010-11 was Rs.65,535 and an increase from Rs.56,706 in 2009-10.

Fruit production in the state registered a decline of nearly 70 percent against the previous year. “Fruit production was 3.29 lakh tonnes in 2011-12 (upto December) against the production of 10.28 lakh tonnes in 2010-11.”

However, the food production was up by 34 percent.
