Himachal delegation visiting Europe to study apple crop
July 12th, 2010 - 9:04 pm ICT by IANSShimla, July 12 (IANS) A high-level delegation of the Himachal Pradesh government Monday left for Europe to study the technologies adopted there in cultivation of apple.
“A delegation headed by Horticulture Minister Narender Bragta is visiting European countries to study the methods used by them in apple cultivation and its storage after harvesting,” an official statement said here.
“They are visiting the countries on an invitation by the Chamber of Commerce of Italy,” it added.
The economy of the state is dependent on horticulture, besides hydroelectric power and tourism. The apple industry is worth around Rs.1,500 crore a year.
