Hillary Clinton meets Indian business leaders
July 18th, 2009 - 11:10 am ICT by IANSMumbai, July 18 (IANS) US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton met Indian business leaders here Saturday, the first full day of her visit to the country.
Clinton discussed an array of issues over breakfast with around 10 of India’s top corporate names, including Mukesh Ambani, Swati Piramal, Jamshyd Godrej and Chanda Kochhar, at the Taj Mahal Palace and Tower Hotel.
Before her meeting with the business leaders, Clinton attended a commemorative event in the memory of 26/11 victims at the hotel, one of the landmarks attacked by terrorists from Pakistan in November last year. She had checked in there Friday as a mark of solidarity with the victims of terror.
More than 170 people including foreigners were killed in the carnage that soured relations between India and Pakistan.
Clinton will fly to New Delhi Sunday for meetings with India’s political leaders and members of the civil society.
