Highlights of Delhi Budget

New Delhi, March 24 (IANS) The following are the highlights of the budget for 2008-09 presented by Delhi Finance Minister A.K. Walia Monday: - Rs.8.19 billion for new metro rail

- Commonwealth Games 2010 gets Rs.11.89 billion

- Subsidy of 25 percent on pulses of arhar and channa to continue

- Rs.6.41 billion for buying more public buses

- Seven new flyovers

- Rs.7.43 billion for development of unauthorised colonies

- New water treatment plants of 20 million gallon daily each at Okhla and Dwarka

- Rs.4.09 billion for power subsidy

- Rs.500 uniform subsidy for poor students per annum

- Upgradation of Kasturba Polytechnic, Pitampura, to a women-engineering college

- University of National Law School in Dwarka

- Rs.1,000 monthly pension for senior citizens

- Rs.1,000 monthly unemployment allowance to disabled persons

- Rs.2,500 monthly honorarium for Anganwadi workers

- Rs.1.6 billion for the Rural Development Board

- Housing and urban development gets Rs.14.87 billion

- Rs.15.07 billion for water supply and sanitation

- Rs.10.15 billion for power sector

- Rs.3.50 billion for new 750-bedded medical college-cum-hospital at Dwarka
