Aug 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Late on Friday, Hewlett-Packard Co. announced that its CEO for the last five years Mark Hurd has resigned from his position. The unexpectedly resignation of the CEO who had led the company to immense success in the past few years comes after an internal investigation into the charges of sexual harassment was carried out by Hewlett-Packard Co. The company is yet to declare the name of the succeeding Chief Executive of the company.
Hewlett-Packard Co. carried out an investigation after a former contractor of the company alleged that she had to face sexual harassment from the Mark Hurt while she was working on a marketing project for the company. The charges were brought against Mark Hurd a few weeks ago. The investigation that followed found that Mark Hurd had concealed and manipulated many documents to hide his relationship with the former contractor. The investigation mentioned that Mark Hurd had falsified documents and paid the lady for works that were not done by her. However, as per reports, Mark Hurd had not violated the Sexual Harassment policies of the company. The general counsel of Hewlett-Packard Co. Mike Holston said to media sources that Mark Hurd’s action points towards his “profound lack of judgment”. The former CEO maintained that though it was hard for him to resign from his position, it would have been harder still to continue as the leader of Hewlett-Packard Co.
