New Delhi, Dec (11) (IANS) Motorcycle manufacturer Hero Honda Motors Friday announced it would partner the Queen’s Baton Relay of the XIX Commonwealth Games 2010.
“The Queen’s Baton will enter India from the Wagah border after completing a journey of 170,000 km across all Commonwealth countries. The baton would spread the message of ‘Peace through Sports’ as it enters India from Pakistan,” Games Organising Committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi said.

“Hero Hondo would play a prominent role in greeting the Baton in India and also when the Baton traverses the entire length and breadth of the country,” he said.

Pawan Munjal, chief executive of Hero Honda, said: “There is a perfect synergy between our brand attributes and the values of optimism, hope, unity and the celebration of the human spirit that the Commonwealth Games imbibe.”

As part of this partnership, Hero Honda Motors will market its leadership position through the use of the Games marks and imagery. This recognition will allow Hero Honda to enjoy marketing rights, advertising, promotion and recognition to connect with all its consumers and dealers around the country.

Kalmadi said: “The organising committee aims to pay back the loan of Rs.1,620 crore taken from the government for the Commonwealth Games, through four revenue generation streams - namely sponsorships, merchandise, broadcasting rights and ticket sales”.
