Haryana pensions through electronic transfer soon
May 10th, 2011 - 9:30 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, May 10 (IANS) Haryana will become the first state in India to directly deposit all kinds of social pensions in the bank accounts of beneficiaries through electronic benefit transfer (EBT) system by June this year, a senior official said Tuesday.
Chief Secretary Urvashi Gulati said the work of disbursement of pension under the EBT scheme had already commenced in 16 out of Haryana’s 21 districts from April.
Leading private banks have been engaged for these districts, she said.
“Representatives of banks concerned would visit each village to open bank account of the beneficiaries and pensions would be paid directly in the beneficiaries’ bank accounts,” Gulati said.
Pensions like the old age “samman bhatta” and for widows and handicapped people, financial assistance to destitute children, beneficiaries of “Ladli” social security scheme, allowances to eunuchs and dwarves and to the Kashmiri migrants will be covered under the scheme.
