Haryana approves Rs 15.88 bn metro link to Faridabad
August 9th, 2010 - 8:21 pm ICT by IANSChandigarh, Aug 9 (IANS) The Haryana government Monday approved a budget of Rs.15.88 billion (Rs.1,588.6 crore) for the extension of the Delhi Metro till the industrial town of Faridabad in Haryana, adjoining New Delhi.
Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda approved the state government’s share of Rs.15.88 billion for the metro link to Faridabad. The Metro link will be from Delhi till YMCA crossing (chowk) in Faridabad.
At a meeting, chaired by Hooda here Monday, it was informed that the total cost of the project has been estimated as Rs.25.33 billion (Rs.2,533 crore) and that the central government would bear an expenditure of Rs.5.44 billion (Rs.544.40 crore).
Hooda said that the project is stipulated to be started October this year and would be completed by March 31, 2013.
The 13.875 km-long, fully-elevated Metro link from Badarpur line would have nine stations up to the YMCA Chowk in Faridabad. This would be an extension of the Central Secretariat-Badarpur line of Delhi Metro.
Hooda said that the project would ease traffic congestion and promote Faridabad area in a big way.
The Haryana government had earlier also got the metro extended to Gurgaon, adjoining south Delhi.
